5.0 out of 5 stars Great 3D, Reasonably Priced Glasses, June 4, 2011

The real question for me was passive 3D quality. The result is similar to shutter glasses. If there is reduced video quality I can't see it. The polarized glasses included with the set (4 pairs) are of good quality. I purchased several pairs of used Real D glasses online and they feel a little sturdier(paid $.90 per pair delivered). The other basics: 1080p as good as any TV I've seen, good 480i picture, basic(but passable) TV sound, easy setup and a nice backlit remote. Wireless access to some web content, One button to access netflix. Easy access to youtube and a few other video services. Widget availability is almost laughable. Can't find true access to the web. 2D to 3D conversion is interesting. Not really 3D, but adds a little something to baseball. I was a little worried about the size (in 3d size does matter), but the 3D is good quality from approx 5 to 12 feet. The darker the room the better.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT LOW COST 3D TV FOR GAMES AND MOVIES, December 30, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Toshiba 42TL515U 42-Inch Natural 3D 1080p 240 Hz LED-LCD HDTV with Net TV, Black (Electronics)
Toshiba seems to be the underdog in the HDTV market, but they really should be on top!

I play Xbox 360 fps games (Call of Duty and Battlefield), and wanted a 3d TV that could handle games well. I purchased the Toshiba TV over LG and others for two reasons, price and the built-in CEVO chip. It has a built-in game mode, but I have found that it doesn't really matter because the TV responds very well in all modes.

As for an Amazon review, I had to return the TV because it had a bright light in the upper corner. It was not Amazon's fault. Toshiba reported that the TV is defective. I have not received a refund from Amazon, but I do not have any doubts because Amazon is amazing! I purchased another exact unit, and I am very happy. Details follow.

PROs
*Cheaper than all other 3d TV models in the 42" class (as of 12/2011)
*3d TV with 4 pairs of glasses
*240Hz with the ability to turn off
*Smart TV with both, wired and wireless, apps... Read more

Was waiting for a 42 inch from LG but couldnt wait anymore. I was afraid this wouldnt have an 'in your face' 3d effect I saw from an LG in bestbuy. But after playing the same LG 3d demo, I am impressed. Ive been using the tv for 3 days now, 3d and 2d is great. Some cons - it takes about 15 seconds to turn on, and sound is not too good. 3d effect on this tv is much better than in the theaters. I recieved the tv the next day. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best bang for the buck, November 21, 2009
This review is from: LG 47SL80 47-Inch Seamless 240 Hz 1080p LCD HDTV, Glass/Black (Electronics)
I have never written a review for anything, but a review for this TV is a must. It's picture quality is amazing from cable to BluRay to DVD. It has brought my old DD's to life with the motionflow 240hz technology. If you know anything about this, it looks as if you are on the set when they are filming and gives a depth to each scene. Just watched the Se7en on it (non-Blu-Ray) and caught things I missed on the set due to this TV's clarity and depth. I thought it would only bring my Blu-Ray's to life, but even movies like The Natural plain DVD were killer and made Robert Redford seem timeless like it was recently shot even though the movie was shot nearly 30 years ago.

I purchased this set from a local Fry's for 999.00 and based on thorough research and comparisons, it was a steal. Even watching the high end Sony's etc, they were giving the same picture quality at almost twice the price.

I can't speak for the lip sync issues, as I have it running to an old... Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars Great TV but..., December 15, 2009
This review is from: LG 47SL80 47-Inch Seamless 240 Hz 1080p LCD HDTV, Glass/Black (Electronics)
The external appearance of the 47SL80 is simple yet very nice to look at, the base and swizel is very solid and heavy, not cheap and plastic like most tvs, and the picture is beautiful. I use an external sound system so I can't comment on the sound. I didn't like the Trumotion but from all the TVs I've seen with 120hz and 240hz, they all seem to make the picture look unnatural to me. The big thing I disliked about this TV and the reason I'm returning it is the screen is too reflective, it's like a black mirror. If the screen is black I can actually see my lazy self on the screen, something which is probably good for me because it might get me in the gym but something I definitely don't like to look at. So my advice is if you're in shape and nice to look at get this TV otherwise look for a matte type screen. And if you're use to reflective screens like the ones on the plasmas this probably isn't more reflective then those, just something I'm not use to and don't like.

Great TV for the price. Only problems I have encountered are that glare is an issue because of the glass front instead of the matte finish on most LCDs. Also, the TrueMotion 240Hz feature makes most shows look like soap operas. It looks great for sports and can be turned off easily for non-sports. I bought this TV to replace another LCD that had the screen broken my a mystery impact (nobody knows anything about it). I don't know if the glass front makes it any more or less durable, but I've had it for 3 weeks now with no cracks yet.

5.0 out of 5 stars 60 Inch Regal TV Stand with Mount, October 15, 2009
After spending hours looking at options for a TV stand or wall mount, I came to the decision to get a TV stand with a mount built in (because I live in an apartment). This is without a doubt the best choice in this category. It took me no more than 2 hours from the time I opened it until it was put together. The directions are pretty straightforward, even though I messed up a couple of times and had to backtrack. You can probably reduce the time it takes to build this by 50% if you have another person helping. Also, I HIGHLY recommend the 60" version over the 42" one. It is definitely worth the extra money. My 50" flat screen goes perfect with this stand.

Here are the pros:

- The parts were very well packed
- Looks sturdy, quality material. This should last me my entire lifetime...
- Simple, easy to follow directions. Everything is labeled.
- A plethora of screws/bolts for TV mounting options (your TV is almost sure to have the correct mounting... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Great TV Stand, January 19, 2010
By
K. Dopheide (Quincy Il) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Purchased this 42" stand a few weeks ago. Was easy to assemble, Looks Great, Sturdy. I mounted my 50" Plasma on it, it extends beyond the stand a few inches on each side, but looks like they were made for each other. A great addition to my living room. The only suggestion I would have is maybe a couple of small rings welded on the inside of the rec. tubes of the cable management system so you could "zip tie" the cables so they would stay inside. Other than that minor thing, I would recommend this product to anyone. It's funny, I was in Walmart the other day, noticed a couple looking at a TV stand that was similar but much inferior in it's design. I suggested they look on Amazon for this one, lower cost, much heavier designed, even heavier glass shelving. They thanked me very much and walked away. I think people need a good deal once in a while, and I do this every chance I get. Like I said, this is a great product, and I don't think you can find a better quality TV stand for... Read more

This review is from: Walker Edison Regal 42-Inch 4-in-1 TV Stand with Mount, Wood/Black (Kitchen)
This stand fits my needs to a tee and is flexible enough so I can make a change in the future if I should need to do so. It arrived very quickly and in excellent condition. It is very heavy and I did need another person to help me carry it into the house. It comes with a multitude of parts but it is easy to understand how to assemble the unit. I supervised my 11 year old grandson and watched him assemble it in about an hour. (my supervision consisted of making sure all the nuts and bolts were tight and to double check the pieces were assembled in the correct order, other than that things went very well) There were no parts shortages, in fact we had a few bolts left over in most cases.
I chose to have the unit with the TV attached rather than mounting the TV to the wall or using the stand that came with the TV set. It has many adjustments so you can move the TV to different positions on the stand to suit the place you set it up in your room.
It looks beautiful and it is... Read more
